‘Have A Go’ – Hurling and Camogie Event
Galway played host to another fantastic ‘Have A Go’ Hurling and Camogie event, as children from across the county were invited to Pearse Stadium to experience the skills, excitement and fun of both games.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for children, particularly those from non-hurling and non-camogie areas, to pick up a hurl and give the games a try in a fun and welcoming environment.
Throughout the afternoon, the children took part in a range of station-based activities, learning and developing skills before putting them into practice through plenty of exciting small-sided games. With expert coaching from the Galway GAA and Camogie staff, along with the support of local coaches who generously gave their time and shared their skills and experience, there was plenty of fun and activity for everyone involved.
The young players also got a very special surprise when Tom Monaghan made an appearance. One of Galway’s standout performers this year, Tom has enjoyed a stellar 2026 season in the forward line and was a hugely popular visitor with the next generation of hurlers and camogie players. He was quickly surrounded by excited young fans eager to ask questions and collect an autograph!
A huge thank you to Tom for taking the time to attend the event and inspire so many of our young participants.
Finally, a massive thank you to Cian O’Toole for organising the event, along with all the coaches and volunteers who helped make the day such an enjoyable experience. Thank you also to all the parents for bringing the children along and supporting them as they gave hurling and camogie a go.
We hope the day has helped spark a love for our games and that, in the years ahead, we will see some of these young stars pulling on a hurling or camogie jersey and proudly representing their club and perhaps even Galway! 🏑
